Abstract
Splenic cyst is a rare cause f splenomegaly.
It usually occurs in females and individuals less than forty years old. A large splenic cyst may be present for extended periods of time without being symptomatic and discovered only on routine examination.
The correct diagnosis of splenic cysts is rarely made preoperatively. The differential diagnosis includes splenomegaly from other causes, cystic lesion, or tumors of adjacent structures.
Splenectomy is the treatment of choice and is curative for all of the splenic cyst.
Authors had experienced a case of primary (true) splenic cyst who was discharged without any complication after splenectomy.
The size of cyst was 9 cm by 7 cm by 6cm.
So, this case is presented with brief review of the literature.
